A picture for the day! This is photograph is of a Brown Hyena taken on Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa. Most people would be more familiar with it's cousin, the Spotted Hyena, which carries a bad reputation for being vicious scavengers. Brown Hyenas are slightly less common and rarely occur in areas where there are 'spotties'. Although this guy has clearly been chewed to pieces by ticks I thought he had quite a charm about him, and a look of innocence that would change most people's minds about those 'cruel' hyenas.
